What’s your favorite family activity in the Hinsdale, Western Springs, La Grange, Clarendon Hills Area?
Taking a family walk and playing at Burns Park.

How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
3 Children, twin 6-year-old girls and a 3-year-old boy.

How long have you lived in the Hinsdale/WS/La Grange/CH Area? What made you decide to live here?
My husband has worked in Hinsdale for 14 years and we’ve always loved the community. When we had the chance to move to Hinsdale in 2016 to be closer to his work and our church we jumped at the chance and that’s when I decided to start my own business here too!

Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop in the Hinsdale/WS/La Grange/CH Area?
Love to eat at Wild Ginger and Vistro.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
When I was in Grad School I managed the Clarendon Hills Starbucks and before I became a child therapist I had my own violin studio.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
I’m not through parenthood at this point (and are we ever really 🙂 but I am truly thankful for God’s daily mercy and grace, good friends, and especially my great husband and life partner Brent along this parenting journey.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I know there’s an increasing number of kids struggling with their mental health and parents feel frustrated because they don’t always know how to help. That’s why I started Kid Matters Counseling in Hinsdale, a group mental health practice specializing in helping anxious and angry children ages 2-12.Even during these days of quarantine, we are helping kids find relief from mental struggles and equipping parents with tools to make meaningful connections with their children. We have an active blog that helps parents raise safe and informed kids.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
There are so many area parents who are dedicated to getting their children the mental health tools and helps that they need. Without them and such a supportive community, Kid Matters Counseling would be far less than it is today.

Also, a big shout-out to Monroe Elementary School for all their help in remote learning. Mrs. Oliva has been a huge support to our kindergarten girls.
