Meet-a-Mom, Mistie Psaledas Lucht

What’s your favorite family activity in the Hinsdale, Western Springs, La Grange, Clarendon Hills Area?
Honestly, just being out and about riding bikes, playing kick ball in the streets with neighbors and taking walks, talking and saying hello to any friends we pass. I did not grow up in a neighborhood like this and these opportunities truly delight me and my girls!

How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
I have 3 girls! Almost 14, almost 12 and 9.

How long have you lived in the Hinsdale/WS/La Grange/CH Area? What made you decide to live here?
I have lived in Hinsdale for 8 years now! We decided to move here because of the amazing schools, the community and more opportunities were available here to us than in the city (which I miss and love!)

Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop in the Hinsdale/WS/La Grange/CH Area?
We love Altamura as a family! Vistro Prime is my go-to place with friends. The service and style at Alixandra Collections is fun and fresh, and I love their candles. Kelsey Resale always gives me a great treasure hunt and some of my favorite pieces have come from there.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
That I was a nationally ranked baton twirler when I was 9, and that I traveled the world performing when I was young. I have twirled in many Hinsdale 4th of July parades on behalf of the Hinsdale Humane Society. My friends know to look for me (let’s hope we have a parade this year!)

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
My mom, of course. I am from New Hampshire and she still lives there. She would come visit every 2-3 months and help out so much!

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
My background is corporate marketing and promotions and I spent many years volunteering in those areas for Hinsdale Humane Society, Monroe School PTO and Hinsdale Junior Women’s Club when I was a stay-at-home-mom. I decided I wanted to become a personal trainer when I turned 41 and have owned my own business, Fit Force, since I was certified. I currently train small group classes, TRX, boxing and one on one sessions. Also, during the pandemic, I launched my children’s business, Wiggle: Tooth Fairy Registry. It is a custom lost tooth solution company to alleviate stress for parents when their kiddos’ teeth fall out! It includes late notices in case they forget to leave something (guilty here!) While I was researching and developing the business, I had an idea for a children’s book, and with my art background, I wrote and sketched the entire book in a few days. An amazing friend brought my rough sketches to life and the book will be published later this year! It is all about inclusivity, creativity and accepting of other cultures, and what children have done and do with their lost teeth around the world.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
The support of friends has just been amazing. We all believe in lifting each other up and celebrating each other’s successes. In addition, local businesses and entrepreneurs support the non-profits I have volunteered for, and we give business right back to them! More than ever, our communities have banded together to support one another, and I am SO thankful for everyone that comes to see me for classes and training and the “early adopters” who have purchased my first Wiggle Registries.
