Meet-a-Mom, Diana Mucci

What’s your favorite family activity in the Hinsdale, Western Springs, La Grange, Clarendon Hills Area?
Besides shopping and dining in downtown Hinsdale, I love the Farmer’s Market and Uniquely Thursdays in the summer.

How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
I have 4 children of my own and 3 more children I inherited from my husband. 32, 30, 28, 26, 25, 20, 13. Yikes! that’s a lot of children!

How long have you lived in the Hinsdale/WS/La Grange/CH Area? What made you decide to live here?
I moved to Burr Ridge in 2017 from the city. My husband had lived in La Grange for 20 years and my parents and sisters lived in Brookfield for nearly as long. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed watching the area transform into the vibrant and metropolitan community it is today. It’s a great place to live!

Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop in the Hinsdale/WS/La Grange/CH Area?
I love Fuller House when I’m feeling a burger and when I’m craving something more wholesome, I head over to Vistro. My favorite place to shop is J McLoughlin, mostly because of Peggy and Andrea!

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
My first language was not English. It was a Frenglish and Spanglish.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
Besides my mother, my youngest sister Michelle was my lifesaver when my kids were little munchkins. With her support, I was able to go back to college!

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
After our Italian leather business in Hinsdale was forced to shut down due to COVID, I pivoted and returned to my lifelong passion of writing. I created Back of the Yards Publishing and published my children’s naptime series, The Snugawinks of Cuddleton Falls, to help create treasured family moments with parents and their children during this time of fear and uncertainty. I’m participating in COVID safe readings with little ones and their families and having a blast!

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
When we opened our Italian boutique in Hinsdale, I had the privilege of meeting some of the most wonderful people I had ever met. There were so supportive and provided guidance when I needed it. The Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce was also instrumental in my growth as a local business owner. I’m grateful to be a part of this community and look forward to seeing everyone again as I embark on my new venture.
