If I am being honest it was far past time to start really taking care of my skin before the pandemic even began, but you know kids, life, etc. got in the way and I had let it go. Then it allllllll shut down, and then it was time to rebook the kids on alllllll the things. And then I looked in the mirror and thought, wow, what about you???? Something that was once so important (in my pre-mom life I was a pharmaceutical rep only calling on dermatologists) became a non priority and it was finally time to change that. For me the best option was to go straight to a dermatologist. This decision to take action was based off of my worn out looks, but I know the importance of regular skin checks and going to a dermatologist can be a one stop shop.
We are lucky to live in an area with many good and great options for dermatologists. Although finding one you like and trust can be a process. While shopping at my beloved Trader Joe’s on Ogden I noticed a dermatologist right next door, how’s that for convenience? What was even more enticing was that it looked to me that they offered all that I was looking for, both general dermatology and cosmetic options. And let me tell you how excited I was to find out that the doctor who owns this practice is a fellow Hinsdale Mom–ding ding ding we have a winner!
My first appointment with Dr. Seema Sheth at Sheth Dermatology in Downers Grove immediately made me feel like I was in the right place. She took time to get to know me, my medical history as well as my skin concerns. After completing my skin check (ALWAYS wear sunscreen ;)) we then discussed my concerns which included hormonal acne and am I ready for botox? 
Dr. Sheth quickly advised and handled the hormonal acne, which if you share my pain can be so helped by seeing a dermatologist. Then onto the topic of botox. Just want to take a moment to mention, I am NOT a doctor and all medical decisions should be made by you and a doctor you trust. I have personally never been opposed to botox, I have seen it done well and not so well, so I wanted to be sure that when it came to my face I was trusting it to an expert. Dr. Sheth is not only an expert, but also someone who favors are more subtle and natural look when it comes to botox, which as luck would have it, was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a refresh and a way to still feel good and confident with less makeup. I feel no pressure in this area, this was just a personal feeling and something I wanted to address, for me and only me!
When I came back a few weeks later from my first ever botox I was excited and felt confident that Dr. Sheth would do ‘just enough’ to achieve what I was looking for. Her staff is friendly and helpful and I felt prepared for the entire process. It was quick and easy (yup, I just sat there) and mostly painless! After two weeks you begin to see the full effects of botox and follow up with Dr. Sheth. Dr. Sheth is a self proclaimed perfectionist and will work to always get it right, if it is not already perfect! I am THRILLED with my results and am a total fan of both botox and Dr. Sheth.
But, I didn’t just stop there…I also had a hydrofacial at the office and let me tell you I was straight up GLOWING after that facial. It was relaxing, but also pretty quick (which is really what a busy mom needs) and the end result really blew me away. And because I had determined that I can’t just get a hydrofacial once and botox once to make a difference I also had the amazing staff at Sheth Dermatology recommend an entire skincare routine. I was tired of guessing and spending money on skincare that just wasn’t quite right. This took all of the guesswork out and has made such a huge improvement.
Self care is never selfish and it sure feels good to have my skin back on track!
