Meet-a-Mom, Megan Martin
What’s your favorite family activity in the Hinsdale, Western Springs, La Grange, Clarendon Hills Area?
We live in the Fullersburg Woods neighborhood in Hinsdale so we spend a lot of time walking in the forest preserve near our house. I love being so close to walking paths so we can get outside as much as possible. In the summer, we enjoy going to Uniquely Thursday each week and swimming at the Clarendon Hills pool.
How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
We have two daughters, Emerson (8), who is a second grader at Monroe and Leighton (5 ½), a kindergartner, at Monroe.
How long have you lived in the Hinsdale/WS/La Grange/CH Area? What made you decide to live here?
We have lived in Hinsdale since Spring of 2014. I grew up in Akron, Ohio so I was not familiar with the suburbs since I spent all my time since I moved to Illinois in 2005 in Chicago. However, my husband grew up in Naperville so we knew when it was time to move to the suburbs we would end up somewhere in the western suburbs. We spent a lot of time driving around each town once we started looking and when we got to Hinsdale I just knew this was where we were supposed to live.
Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop in the Hinsdale/WS/La Grange/CH Area?
We practically live at Fuller House. We just love the vibe, the food, everything! When we aren’t at Fuller House, we love Roka Akor at Oak Brook, Yia-Yia’s and Page’s for brunch and Country House. I also love Aurelio’s pizza!
In terms of shopping, my kids love My Sister Kate. It is our go-to for birthday gifts. I also like Vintage Charm, Jayne and blonde in Glen Ellyn (I keep begging them to open a Hinsdale location!).
I know this wasn’t asked but I can’t not mention my favorite place for facials – Pure Skin by Peg (Peg Karadimas). I started going to her a few years ago for waxing and facials and she has helped me so much. I swear I look 5 years younger just by going to her for monthly facials.
What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
Ah, that is a hard question! When I was in college, my best friend dated the lead singer of 311 and I spent a summer traveling around with the band.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
I was so lucky to be pregnant at the same time as my college best friends who live in the Chicago area so that has been such a huge part of my parenting life. We really rely on one another and our kids are great friends because they have grown up together and have such a great friendship.
Besides my college friends, my mom who moved to the area once my daughters were born, has been a huge help in guiding me to be a better mom; I am also really close to my mother-in-law who has been a huge help to me with raising the girls. I am so lucky to have such a huge support system.

I own a lifestyle PR firm based in Chicago called Page One Public Relations. We handle public relations for restaurants, events, festivals, hotels, and more! My business is my third child and I am so proud of the company and all that we have accomplished in the last 10 years of the business.
Locally, I help Monroe Elementary School with their public relations outreach and was involved in the Hinsdale Humane Society grand reopening.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
I love the Hinsdale community. I can’t imagine my children growing up anywhere else. Everyone is so helpful and friendly and supports one another. I love walking around town and seeing familiar faces. It is truly a special place to live
